Digital Masterclass

Luke Temple's Unique Masterclasses - for those learning at school and at home

Special offers for the spring term

While in-person visits aren't currently possible, I have created some digital masterclasses for KS2 and KS1. Each masterclass uses a series of videos and writing activities to get children just as engaged and excited as a normal author visit.

Would your school be interested in using one of my masterclasses this academic year? Please email me at masterclass@luketemple.co.uk to find out more.

Because of their format, I am able to offer you the digital masterclasses for much lower prices than in-person workshops. Each masterclass is available to use as follows:
  • £35 for use with one class
  • £60 for use with two classes
  • £75 for use with three or more classes
By comparison, a typical in-person workshop with one class would cost about £150, according to Society of Authors' rates. For half this price you can use one of my masterclasses with a whole Key Stage, so nobody has to miss out! My masterclasses also give you access to far more than is possible in a single workshop (schools tend to use them in sessions over a week or two).

All children involved will also be given the opportunity to buy signed books. This works just like in a normal author visit - all children involved will have the opportunity to buy books, which I will sign personally and post to school.

In feedback from schools who have so far used them, the masterclasses have been described as 'inspirational' (St Mary's Primary) with a 'perfect mix of activities and encouragement' (St Bede's Primary). 'I've never seen a group of children so engaged!’ (Town Junior).

Here is a trailer for one of the masterclasses:

Please do get in touch if you would like Luke to create a masterclass for your school.

"We’ve had such a wonderful week watching all of your videos and completing the activities you set for us. Your masterclass has had a huge impact on the children! I thank you so much for the inspiration you’re giving them!" (Mr Richardson, Sutton St James Primary)

"It’s been perfect for setting as a home learning activity for our children. We have had parents emailing us to show us the wonderful work the children have been doing and sending photos. It’s made planning for the first two weeks of remote learning so much easier for the staff at a time when we have had to learn so many new things." (Ms Rice-Birchall, St Gabriel's Primary)

"The masterclass was inspirational because it proved that anyone can write!" (year 6, Leen Mills Primary)

"I felt lucky to be part of it because it has changed the way I write and made me much better. I have been using the senses and similes more to make my work more descriptive." (year 6, Leen Mills Primary)

"The activities in the masterclass worked perfectly across Key Stage 2. We were able to integrate them into our lessons easily and the children responded really positively to the videos and activities that went with them." (Mrs Ablitt, Leen Mills Primary)

"It has been fantastic delivering the masterclass. The quality of resources made the delivery of the activities simple and effective and the children have loved it!" (Ms McKeen, Our Lady Queen of Peace Primary)

"We have had a wonderful week exploring the mutating mansion... The children have loved the videos and created some great written work. You have really inspired them." (Mrs Buhaenko, Cleadon Academy)

"I can honestly say the feedback from children and teachers has been amazing, we have loved delivering it." (Ms Shelton, Great Doddington Primary)

"My son is so enjoying your virtual sessions - he's been overflowing with enthusiasm this morning for the writing he's done and can't wait to read Mutating Mansion" (a parent)

"My son was very excited and has not put his copy of your book down yet! He is an incredibly reluctant reader but even more so with writing and he told me he did an 'amazing' bit of writing in your workshop." (a parent)

"The entire school are gripped by your workshops... The videos are fantastic and VERY engaging! We have had lots of our reluctant readers and writers fully engaged in these workshops, which has been absolutely amazing to see!" (Mrs Platt, Wrockwardine Wood Junior)

"They are absolutely loving the workshop this week... They're so much more engaged with writing than normal so a big thumbs up from me." (Miss Gascoigne-Owens, Amble First School)

"You often see pre-printed resources created by charities and stuff and it’s often a little bit of blurb that basically says ‘Draw this’. When you think of the printing costs of the school you may as well just put one up on the board and get the kids to write it.

However, I was really pleasantly surprised when I opened your Blubber Monster Masterclass. There was a really good balance of written work and creative drawing. I loved the fact that it was personalised to us (and so did the kids  – they thought it was fake that an author had written to us and when I showed them the PDf and the email, you could see their attitude flip) as well as the generous portions of actual story you included.  The frameworks you created for the adjectives and the day in the life were spot on and I didn’t feel I needed to do any tweaking. It could also differentiate up and down really easily. There was a nice balance for all ability levels." (Mr Durnford, The Gillford Centre)
